The North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain gives anglers access to several different kinds of water without making a long run south of New Orleans. Depending on where you launch, you can fish the lake, nearby bayous, marshes, bridge structure, and freshwater areas that hold largemouth bass.
Bayou Lacombe and Bayou Liberty are two places worth exploring when you want to get away from the open lake. Bayou Lacombe, in particular, can offer bass-fishing opportunities closer to the banks and in protected water.
The biggest advantage of the North Shore is flexibility. If the open-lake trout bite is not happening or the wind is making the lake uncomfortable, there may still be protected water and freshwater options nearby.
